Have fun and get creative for your Instagram post looks with these 10 highly pigmented eyeshadow palettes for Brown and Black skins!
As we enter the Christmas season, dancing to Beyoncé’s “Brown skin girl…Your skin just like pearls” lyrics, which celebrate all Brown and Black skin complexions, I have compiled 10 best eyeshadow palettes that will help you shine during this festive season and beyond.
To come up with this eyeshadow palettes list, I explored makeup brands’ founders’ vision, I enjoyed trying products myself and watching some beauty YouTubers product reviews, and I analysed product formulas to highlight key ingredients found in pigmented eyeshadows.
These include amongst others naturally-occurring mineral mica, synthetic fluorphlogopite (more widely referred to as synthetic mica), shimmering powders and bulking agents calcium sodium borosilicate and calcium aluminum borosilicate, titanium dioxide, and iron oxide.
Depending on mica’s thickness and size and the oxides they are coated with, a wide variety of effects, shimmers, and colours will be achieved. Different colours are achieved by applying more coats of the chosen oxides.
More layers are required to create deeper shades. And the larger the mica’s particles the shinier the shades. Due to human right concerns pertaining to child labour associated with the mining of natural mica, some beauty companies like Lush have made the decision to exclusively use lab-produced synthetic mica over natural mica in their makeup products. Through the Responsible Mica Initiative, other beauty brands like L’oreal and Sephora on the other hand have pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the ethical sourcing of natural and synthetic mica across their supply chains and brand portfolios.
From global beauty giants to inclusive indie makeup brands on this pigmented eyeshadow palettes list, all are striving to offer cruelty-free colour cosmetics that are both safe and efficient for all skins.
For the brown skin complexions in the Arab world and South Asia to the dark skin tones of African, South American, Australian, and Indonesian heritage, here are some of the best pigmented eyeshadow palettes whose hues will melt right in and make your skin pop.
